Influence of Transformation Temperature on the High‐Cycle Fatigue Performance of Carbide‐Bearing and Carbide‐Free Bainite

The objective of this study is to investigate the high-cycle fatigue (HCF) behavior carbide-bearing bainite (CBB) and carbide-free (CFB) fabricated at different transformation temperatures. limit each material determined via staircase method using a 1 kHz resonant testing machine. A new load increase test proposed as an efficient alternative estimate in HCF regimes. assessment accompanied by data-driven microstructural analyses state-of-the-art computer vision tools. reveal that finer carbide distribution, which was obtained lower temperature, enhances overall performance CBB. EBSD measurements CFB before after tensile evidence retained austenite (RA) martensite during deformation. film-like stable RA, are promoted reduction properties absorbing energy required for crack propagation through improved transformation-induced plasticity. However, blocky unstable RA and/or martensite-austenite (MA) islands prior grain boundaries deteriorate high-temperature CFB.
